Pruning: From shrubs to young and basic to fruit trees to large and complex trees using up to date arbouriculture practices blended together with over twenty years of hands on experience and judgment. We prune trees to help ensure the best structure, form and safety for species and location. This can include young tree training, mature tree maintenance, restoration pruning of previously topped trees, height reduction of historically topped trees, clearance pruning for view, buildings & roofs, pools, parking etc. or service wires to your home or business. In general, this work can be done at anytime of the year. There may be some specific species timing issues with your tree but that would be discussed during the estimate and consultation.

Trimming: From small shrubs to hedges of any size to large (topiary) trees. In general this work can be done at any time of the year although we prefer not to do larger hedges and trees in the spring during bird nesting season to avoid disruption to them.

Removals: Be it small and basic or large and hazardous or anywhere in between we have the knowledge, skills and experience to safely remove any tree. This includes storm damage work which may be a full removal or pruning for best safety after the fact for partially damaged trees.

Cabling and Bracing: This work brings about many considerations of risk and liability but we are more than capable of working with you and your tree(s) to ensure the best possible chance for a long life should you chose this treatment. In general this work can be done at anytime.

Planting: We can provide you with planning and planting of new trees. This may be because of bylaw replacement reasons after a tree was removed or simply to add a new tree to your garden or landscape. The proper selection of species type is the pinnacle of best management practices for your tree. The right tree in the right place will require very little maintenance and last several (human) life times. This process needs to start with proper species selection for the site, selection and inspection of the tree right from the nursery, and then the proper planting at your property followed up with the right after care and maintenance along the way. We believe early spring is the best time for this work but it can in fact be done at anytime if the proper precautions and maintenance are a part of the process.

Transplanting: Our services here are generally limited to ‘man power’ size only but we are more than capable of moving  small to moderate sized shrubs or trees. Please call us to inquire about your specific requirements.

Stump Grinding: Using a machine designed for the job we can remove any size stump from most places and yards. Stump grinding is not 100% removal of all underground woody parts of the tree but does attempt to get the core wood associated with the main part of the stump and any and all surface roots. This process is much less invasive than mechanical digging and is done with the intention of being able to plant a new tree or turf over the area. As with all our work, our price includes removal of all the above ground portion of the debris leaving you with just a shallow depression. Don’t ask us why but the industry standard is to provide the stump grinding service only and not the clean up and removal of the debris for the quoted price. Although the grindings can make good garden mulch the average stump will produce way too much debris for the average garden bed so pay attention to what is included with the price if getting other estimates.

The consulting area of arbouriculture can be very complex in its’ details and requirements these days particularly if they are, or become, legal in nature. We are professional enough to know when we are or are not the best choice for certain consulting requests. If your request is outside our normal expertise will can usually refer a local, reliable and qualified colleague to you.

Storm service: During widespread and severe storms we can usually be reached 24 / 7 at 604-275-8829. We provide ‘urgent’ removals, clean up, and temporary restoration or bracing services. Our charges for coming out after hours and / or working in (extra) dangerous conditions will be inflated from regular. Conversely, our prices will not be inflated to come out during normal daylight hours to assess the situation and provide you with an estimate.
